Updating site to 1.0.0J to add all validation fixes to code...

Affects:
  • Style changes and updates...
  • Reworked layout html/css code, this allowed reduction to code in the css fix files...
  • Menus and Link blocks updated (removed 'target blank' and added javascript to make code XHTML compliant)...
  • Removed the need to disable portal and make the edit prior to running the phpBB3 update process...
Very close to validation :tc:

Some style have not been updated yet, so will appear slightly screwy ;)

The Kiss II Engine Project (Phoenix edition):

The Kiss II Engine relates to the part of the Stargate Portal code responsible for core functionality. Essentially this means all file in the includes, adm and language folders and their sub folders. Also covers all styles files in the portal common folder. It does not include any files associated with other mods (including the portal's own mods) such as web pages, portal mini-mods, rss, and calendar... :tc:

Aims of the project:
  • To get the core code (the portal engine) though the phpBB's mod submissions process...
  • Make the portal accessible to more users...
  • Greatly reducing the learning curve for all users...
  • Allow the installer to decide what is included and what is not to include...
  • Simplify development and trouble shooting of each section (divide an conquer)...

A simple mod to allow users to enter data in any forum using a dedicated form...
Of course you need to edit the from provided to suit your needs...

To test, post a new topics and select the Form Mode Button (left of bbcode buttons) to enter data using the form...

Its been pointed out people still use IE7 and more importantly, the code we use to remove tables causes some problems for them... I have fixed the most disruptive problem and have added the code to Olympus (default style)... It's not perfect as yet but at least the site is a little more readable...

I will continue to add more fixes as time allows...

Update:
Rather than go through every style and painstakingly modify for IE7, I will port several table based (most likely subsilver styles) for 7 over time...

Added a few web page examples created with Xara web designer, click on Sample Web Pages in Sub Menu, or this link: , to see an example...

Xara (or any other similar web page program), allows you to create professional looking pages in minutes...
The examples in this link were created to give you some indication of what can be achieved in a few minutes using simple html and a little css... You don't need programming skills to create pages with such programs yet they do enhance your site...

Web Page Mod
In the near future we will be adding our Web Page Mod, it will provide interaction with these pages by allowing you to add/edit real data and pass this data to your web pages...

The default block layout as determined by the admin should be enough for most people, therefore I am considering removing the option to arrange blocks and the associated code to simply the portal, then again I may not...

Advantages:
  • Greatly simplify the code...
  • Remove the need for member to delete/edit their block layout every time the admin adds or removes blocks...
  • Allow us to stick to one javascript library (jQuery)...
Thoughts, comments please... :?
