Thanks for that... I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to resolve some hard-ware issues...

Problems over the last few week...

It appears that during an update windows can backup the main profile and create a temp one with full admin permissions... After the update (restart) it should reinstate the main but if something goes wrong you can be left without the main profile and unable to to login... that was one problem... (you can get back in using safe mode and fix the registry problem)...

Blue screens and restart loop I couldn't get out of...
First I forced windows to redo finalised part of update just to get into the system...
Then I set about fixing the software conflicts (windows, nvidea and on occasion flash player), plus some strange goings on with windows updates... impossible to isolate, so I updated/downgraded everything until I got it working... The kind of headache that make you look at Linux again... ;)

If the software I use worked in OSX or on a Linux system, I would have changed a long time ago....

If you change or update anything including your socks or your mind.... create a restore point :wh:

Last year (or the year before), I bought a second hand G5 (power PC quad @ 2 Ghz) but it only supports up to Snow Leopard, after that it's stuck...
I got it for small money and it's actually very fast, to fast to break it up and reuse the parts for a proper hackintosh or even just use the case for a nice looking window machine...

Sorry about the PC, Mike. I need to build a new one myself...maybe next year when I get my tax return.

Wine and CrossOver works with a lot of Windows programs in Linux. And if you have problems with games try them on Steam for Linux. I don't use Linux as much as I should but plan to build a server with it and see how that works out...more of a learning thing.
